Happy New Year

New Year’s Eve is my absolute favourite night of the year and I am really looking forward to tonight. I will be spending it with my incredible friends in Hongdae, drinking, dancing, laughing, falling over, spilling drinks down myself, laughing some more…

To my friends and family who will be seeing in the new year considerably later than me, I apologise in advance if I decide drunk texting at a time when you should still (probably) be sober is a great idea.

Let the good times roll!

Zumbador by Monkey Safari → youtube.com

I am embracing technology and the other night I used SoundHound to tell me what this song is, as I am in love.

Enjoy!

Nightmares Await: The Snake Lady → creepierpasta.tumblr.com

creepierpasta:

Well, in early 1960’s Korea, my mom was a tween or a young teen. she lived in the countryside near Seoul. Seoul wasn’t a big industrialized place as it is now. There were a lot of woods around the place she lived. My mom used to go to her friend’s house a lot to have sleep overs and such.

But in…

I studied as if my life was on the line, but my grades did not get higher. I wanted to earn good grades too, but my mother spewed out insults in front of all my relatives. My pride was broken. The social structure of Korea which only emphasizes education is wrong. We need to acknowledge the fact that diversity of different types of learning is important too. I don’t want to live in this kind of world anymore. I want to do other things too, but being pressured to only study… I don’t like that. I want to escape from this society that judges and assesses human beings by their grades. I want to be reborn as an American. I’m going first to meet Steve Jobs. Mom, Dad, please. At least let my younger sibling be able to do what they truly want to the fullest. I have one last request. Please bury me with my iPod and stuffed teddy bear.” —

Being a Korean kid can be tough. I am grateful that my parents raised me to do as I pleased as long as I tried my best and strove not to hurt anybody.

Kim Jong Un Looking at Things... → msnbc.msn.com

So I was a bit worried that with Kim Jong Il dying, it would leave a big space in my life. (i.e. no more Kim Jong Il Looking at Things tumblr.) But, fear not.. His son has clearly been groomed in all the ways of his father…

My Sister

I had a super smashing weekend with my chums, ending with a phenomenal Skype chat with my baby sister who has managed to beat herself up by tripping over her own shoelaces. She is 18, a stunning and super smart blonde bombshell, but… Well. She is still part of my family, so she is also excellent at making a tit out of herself.

A sprained wrist, grazed shoulder and a terrible cut on her chin. There we were, chatting away, her telling me the whole ridiculous story, and she started trying to make herself look presentable by curling her hair. And so the conversation definitely had to end, as I can’t be responsible for her burning herself on her curling tongs as well, as she wasn’t really paying attention to what she was doing. (I see a pattern emerging here!)

The reason for the curling tongs? She has to go meet her boyfriend’s family for the first time tonight. BRILLIANT. (I was sympathetic, but it is really very funny. Especially as she can laugh at herself incredibly well, bearing in mind she is in a lot of pain.) Also, she has a limp. It’s a good thing first impressions don’t count… No. Wait… That’s not the expression, is it?

I will still be laughing about this in the morning as I eagerly await an update on how it all went.
